Autumn/Winter Baby Boy

If like me you are a mother of a son, who is always on the hunt for something stylish for your baby boy, something different to the multi-coloured, transport, superhero and dinosaur print that saturates the 'boys' section of stores - then you will know just how difficult finding such a thing is! But fear not fellow neutral loving mamas, someone out there has us covered! H&M is by far my favourite place to shop for Oliver. Pretty much the entirety of his Summer wardrobe was thanks to their refreshingly stylish boys/baby collections. So when looking for his Autumn/Winter wardrobe it's the first place I looked. There and ZARA, and I wasn't disappointed. There was so much I could have chosen, but for the purpose of this post I whittled it down to the selections below. Oliver is 7 months and on the verge of crawling and has already found ways to move around, so comfort is always first on my mind when shopping for him - soft fabrics, that aren't too fitted and won't irritate his soft baby skin while he's exploring. Colour wise, I'm definitely feeling burnt orange this year, lots of earthy neutrals and woodland prints. So check out below for a summary of Oliver Rey's A/W17 aesthetic. Sure tops the fully tartan ensembles, broadie anglaise and clown dungarees that I was rocking as a 0-12 month old in the 90's!

Oliver Rey | A Birth Story

Oliver Rey - was born on the 31st January at 00:10am weighing 8lb 10oz!

I began my maternity leave half way through my 37th week of pregnancy and fully expected that I would (like a lot of the first time mums I knew) go over due. I had two and a half weeks until due date and fully intended on using this time to keep on top of housework ready for the big day arriving, having chilled dog walks and making the most of my free time by meeting up with friends for coffee and that's exactly what I did. Week 40 arrived and that's where this birth story really begins.

Third Trimester Update

We're finally here! I am currently 37 weeks pregnant and I write this having just experienced my first half a day of maternity leave! Baby M is fully baked and could arrive at any time. I feel both incredibly excited but also terrified at this prospect! Not about the labour as most would expect - that part I'm oddly looking forward to experiencing. I'm more terrified of the fragile little person who I will have brought into the world and who will rely on me to take care of his every need! That shit is 'adulting' for real!

Entering The Unknown

The Christmas festivities are drawing to an end and I find myself contently enjoying time off work and living those in between days before we wave goodbye to yet another year and say hello to a brand new one. As I sit here writing this, I am reminded by the movements of arms and legs in my belly, of all the change that awaits me in the new year. At some point within the next 5-7 weeks I will become a mother. 'My life will change forever' - is a phrase I am hit with often.

Maternity Wear - Christmas Eve to Day

There is endless advice out there on how to dress for your body shape, how to dress for an hour glass figure, a pear-shaped figure etc. However, one thing I have recently discovered, is that no one tells you how to dress for a spherical figure! What do you do then? At 34 weeks pregnant, rocking my new continually expanding ball-like body & the festive season upon us, I found myself asking this very question! To find very little of an answer!

The Second Trimester

Tomorrow marks my 33rd week of pregnancy, I am a fair few weeks into my third trimester and feeling/looking huge! Which means writing up about all I experienced in the second trimester is well overdue! I've been rather rubbish at documenting my pregnancy and didn't make notes of my symptoms as they were happening which meant I had to rack my brain to remember the little things. I have learnt my lesson however and have already got a loooong list ready for the third trimester update, which who knows, I may even get round to writing before the baby is born!

A Pre-Birthday Weekend

It is my 24th birthday tomorrow (Monday) and as I will be at work, there won't be much room for celebrating, so we've pretty much spent the weekend in birthday mode. Saturday night we enjoyed a meal out with family to celebrate both mine and Ash's birthday as his was on Wednesday.
